Writing can be quite strange.
You carry thoughts in your mind, and when you finally put them down on paper, there’s always uncertainty about whether anyone will read them or truly connect with them. My motivation for writing was never to achieve fame or win awards; rather, it was simply to share the transformative work Jesus continues to do in my life. I never intended to be a writer, but when God calls you to action, you respond—even if it's with a sense of fear.
I am both honored and profoundly surprised to share that BATTLECRY has become a finalist for the Golden Scroll Award. This book has resonated with many, including individuals like myself, delivering a message of hope during times of uncertainty when life's direction shifts unexpectedly. It tells a story of God's goodness, His love, and the hope we can find in Him when we focus on eternity rather than our current circumstances.
I pray that BATTLECRY reaches those who need to hear this message. I am grateful to everyone who has shared, purchased, or reached out with expressions of gratitude for capturing the cries of their own hearts through my writing. A special thank you to those who left reviews; your support means the world! I may not know where this journey will lead, but I firmly believe that the best is yet to come.
This morning, I've been reflecting on an old hymn that beautifully reminds me that any awards or accolades we might receive will never compare to the salvation offered by Jesus. The lyrics echo the deepest desires of my heart: I would rather have JESUS than anything this world could offer today.
I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold
I'd rather be His than have riches untold
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or land
I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin's dread sway
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today
I'd rather have Jesus than worldly applause
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause
I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame
Yes, I'd rather be true to His holy name
Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin's dread sway
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today
